General Description:

Provide day-to-day management of clinical lab and testing personnel and reporting of test results in high complexity, Molecular Certified Laboratory. You will be responsible for driving continuous improvement of standard operating procedures for diagnostic quality delivery. You will manage an efficient team while driving improvements in assay quality (as measured by precision, specificity, and sensitivity of tests). A key part of the job is to institute and achieve continual evaluation and improvement of laboratory safety.

Duties/Responsibilities:

As the head of the covid/molecular lab, you are required to:

  • Develop and manage SOP documentation and versioning.
  • Develop sales protocols for continued revenue generation and exceed all revenue targets set for the Center.
  • Manage a laboratory, logistics, sales, and accounts team to achieve performance excellence in all targets set.
  • Perform routine and specialist analytical testing of biological sample.
  • Take and or supervise naso/oropharyngeal swab samples for covid-19 testing.
  • Process patient samples in good time and make sure that turnaround times for reporting results are achieved.
  • Prioritize your workload and perform urgent analytical testing as required.
  • Maintain and order stocks of materials.
  • Answer telephone and email enquiries about test results and other general lab issues.
  • Accurately record data, write reports and share results with clients.
  • Develop new methods of investigation and keep up to date with diagnostic innovations.
  • Support the lab’s quality management system and observe all relevant health and safety regulations.
  • Supervise, mentor, and support other staff.
  • Keep your professional knowledge up to date and take responsibility for your continuing professional development (CPD).

Requirements:

  • Minimum of BSc. in Biomedical Science or equivalent.A Master’s degree in biological sciences, leadership, public health, or business administration would be an advantage.
  • Licensed with Allied Health Professions Council of Ghana is a requirement.
  • Experience in working in a Covid-19 testing environment is a requirement.
  • Knowledge in analytical software such as SPSS, STATA will be an added advantage.
  • 3+ years of experience working in the designated laboratory specialty in a medical laboratory.
  • 1-2years experience in managerial level.
  • Computer Literate in basic Microsoft Word and Excel programs and any other Hospital Management System
  • Exceptional customer service skills
